Communications officer

Join Australia's labour hire and recruitment firm of the year - for the last two years, as we find an amazing communications officer for this government client.

We have a Sunshine Coast based, fulltime role on offer for approximately six months.

Your key responsibilities will include;

Assisting the Communications Team Leader in providing communication advice and support to district staff on risk assessment, issues management, community consultation and communication strategies using appropriate communication tools.

Coordinating and writing executive correspondence, media statements, responses to media inquiries, speech notes, and other communication material for the Minister's office and senior management.

Assisting with and undertaking community engagement and stakeholder consultation activities during project development and delivery.

Gathering information and writing articles for various publications, including staff magazines, newsletters and information brochures. Preparing promotional materials is also included in this area.

Coordinating and project managing the content of the district's communication intranet and internet pages to ensure relevance to projects and initiatives.

Providing training, advice and support to district staff and consultants to enhance communication skills and improve relationships with key stakeholders and the community in the delivery of projects and initiatives.

If successful for interview then you will need to be able to demonstrate experience and skills in the areas of;

Community Engagement - understanding of community engagement practices to develop effective public consultation activities and maintain stakeholder relations.

Executive Correspondence - understanding of executive correspondence techniques to develop accurate ministerials, briefing notes and executive letters in a timely manner

Public Relations & Media - sound knowledge of public relations strategies to deliver effective corporate communication activities at a district level. Including understanding of regional media to develop targeted media responses and establish and maintain positive relations between department and the media.

Teamwork - Actively listening to colleagues and clients. Sharing information and ensuring others are kept informed of issues. You will also need to be able to work collaboratively and operate as an effective team member.

There are a few roles on offer with casual pay rate between $31-52 per hour over a 38 hour week for approximately six months with good possibility of extension
